The Newest Five Points Attraction… If you are predicting a renaissance for Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, the opening of Dunbar Kitchen & Tap House reinforces your point. Set in an 1899 house and 50-year old store front, they took the name of the Dunbar Barber Shop, which had operated in that space for decades. The bar and liquor shelving are made from wood they found in the building, and the former barber’s store front sign was saved and built into the restaurant’s interior wall.
Owners Charles Wessels and Mike Ayre transformed the space into a well-functioning casual and comfortable bar and eatery that retains the beautiful original brick softened with lots of reclaimed wood, much of which came from the old floor and walls. The seating arrangements, including two or four tops at the front, bar seating, or high-top bench seating, are conducive to a variety of demographics and occasions.
